Befair reported mixed results for the first quarter of 2011.  Overall sales dropped to £81 million, down 7% for the quarter.  Despite this, Betfair’s mobile division performed very well, reporting an almost 80% increase in mobile sales.

In total over 7 million bets were placed on Blackberry, iPhone and Android mobile devices during the period.   This represent an astonishing increase of 95% over the same period last year.  A third of all sports bettors at Betfair are now using a mobile device to place sports bets.

Betfair have invested heavily in mobile gambling technology in recent times, developing native betting apps BlackBerry’s, Android’s, iPhones and iPad’s.  They also developed a mobile website that can be used from any smartphone, including Winodws Mobile phones.

Betfair also offer their mobile gambling apps in 17 different languages, ensuring the widest possible reach for their mobile products.  According to David Yu, Betfair's CEO, improvements in the Betfair apps have also resulted in an increase in the amount of time sports bettors spend using the Betfair apps.  The improved apps have also resulted in an uptake in in-play betting.

The Betfair apps for BlackBerry’s, Android’s and iPhone’s are the most advanced sports betting apps available today.  Users can now deposit or withdraw funds from their accounts, review and modify active bets, and place back and lay bets on any of Betfair’s Markets.

Betfair are currently offering £100's of FREE BETS to new BlackBerry customers.  For the latest offers, check out the Betfair advertisment below.
